What is premature ejaculation?
The term premature ejaculation or PE (also known as rapid ejaculation RE), describes the phenomenon when a person ejaculates during sexual stimulation before intercourse or soon after penetration (or less than a minute after he starts).
There is no set time that how much time a man should consume to ejaculate during sex, but if he ejaculate and lose his erection at the start of intercourse, he is suffering from premature ejaculation. According to different data collection sources, nearly 30% to 40% people are suffering from premature ejaculation. 4% people are those who ejaculate soon after penetration.
How premature ejaculation occurs?
Ejaculation is controlled by the central nervous system. Signals are sent to spinal cord and brain during sexual stimulation. When a man reach a certain level of excitement, these signals are then sent from brain to reproductive organs that causes semen to be ejected (through the penis).
In premature ejaculation, a man ejaculates sooner during sexual intercourse before his own sexual desire. Few people ejaculate soon after penetration. As they push their penis, they ejaculate and some ejaculate before one minute. Some people fails to control and become frustrated.
Main symptom of premature ejaculation:
The main symptom of premature ejaculation is the inability to delay ejaculation for a sufficient time after penetration. Although the duration of PE differs, the AUA (American Urological Association) defines it as “premature” if it occurs sooner than desired, either before or shortly after penetration, causing distress to either one or both partners. This sufficient time may be one minute to half an hour. However, average people consume three minutes to seven minutes after penetration. This time depends on the satisfaction of both partners. If both partners are satisfied in two minutes, then it is sufficient time.
Main causes of premature ejaculation / Rapid ejaculation
There are many reasons that cause premature ejaculation or rapid ejaculation. Some of the main causes of PE are mentioned below:
- Psychological factors
- Emotional factors
- Physical conditions
- Genetic traits
- Biological causes
- Medical factors
- Erectile dysfunction
- Environmental factor
- Age factor
- Frequency level
Now we will discuss each factor with brief explanation.
Psychological factors is one of the main factor because psychology has much to do with nervous system. If you have a good command over your brain, you can get your desired result and if you are a psycho patient, you cannot complete your ends.
Generally, psychological factors play an important role that includes include, poor body image, depression, worrying about premature ejaculation, guilty feelings or early sexual experiences.
Emotional factors also cause premature ejaculation. There are multiple emotional factors that include, stress, Anxiety, misconception, poor relationship with partner, lack of confidence to have an intercourse, poor body image, some concerns over sexual performance, and negative feelings about sex.
Physical conditions may also cause premature ejaculation. These include unusual hormone levels or irregular levels of neurotransmitters.. Inflammation or an infection in your prostate or urethra also cause premature ejaculation.
Genetic traits you inherit from your parents might be the cause of premature ejaculation.
A number of biological factors might contribute to premature ejaculation. Some of the biological factors include abnormal hormone levels, infection of the urethra or prostate, Abnormal levels of brain chemicals, and inherited traits.
Medical factors rarely interfere with premature ejaculation; but there may be a medical cause in some cases. The possible medical causes of premature ejaculation may be diabetes, thyroid problems, multiple sclerosis or prostate disease.
Use of drug/Alcohol:
Many people drink alcohol or take drugs to enhance their delay time but long practice can cause premature ejaculation. Meanwhile, you are drunk, your brain works slow and you may enjoy a sufficient time but it will pay you back through side effects. Moreover, its side effect will lead you to premature ejaculation when you are having intercourse without any alcohol or drug.
Sometimes premature ejaculation can be a problem for men with erectile dysfunction (ED). Erectile dysfunction (ED) is another issue among men that causes premature ejaculation. Erectile dysfunction is itself a major issue in which a penis cannot sustain its hardness. Men who cannot maintain erection during sexual intercourse might ejaculate too soon. Sometime people fails to hold erection before intercourse and some lose erection soon after penetration. If a man has erectile dysfunction , he should be treated first for ED. Premature ejaculation may not be a problem once the ED is treated.
Sometimes environment cause PE. The environment means the surrounding or visuals. Some people ejaculate too soon because there is no calmness and there is sufficient noise that is coming outside the room or footstep of streetwalker can disturb the couple that can cause rapid ejaculation.
Age factor is also involved with sexual life. After a period of life, people face erectile dysfunction issue that cause quick ejaculation.
If a man enjoys a lot of sex during his early age or practice other ways to ejaculate, he may face PE in his thirties or even after twenties.
